After 5 stages of grief, we are at acceptance as well. We sold our house in FL bought a multi generational much smaller house in Chicago with my in-laws, almost right next door to my brother-in-laws. Got and renovated an old RV while lockdown during covid, with enough solar to be self sufficient as long as the water holds out, got a filtration system, Berkey.
Then we took off, first to hug as many trees as we could but also to see with my own eyes what I kept seeing on TV and reading about, from water levels at dams to local politics.
We spent last summer dodging fires in CA and CO.
Now we are calmer and beginning our "victory garden" in Chicago but are also looking for a modest plot, couple of hundred miles south but still in IL. There is lots of water, great soil, acceptable politics. Never thought I'd become a solar technician and a farmer at 58 but here we are.
We, in the Northern American continent are extremely lucky. We will survive as our hearts bleed.
