Far be it from me to disagree with the IEA but by 2050, our energy "demand" is likely to be crushed. By 203 or 2035 it will become very apparent that 1- we ARE running out of oil and 2- We can't power our Industrial behemoth without oil (coal won't cut it either) and economic activity will first falter then decline precipitously. Unfortunately that will most likely to lead to war and an even more rapid depletion and wasting of resources. We are up the proverbial creek with no paddle, solar wind or otherwise.
