Relying on them is like relying on capital punishment to eliminate murder : i.e. killing people to emphasize to other people, that killing people is wrong is... well...wrong!

Relying on Neo-liberal, "free-market" (which of course is anything but free) to get us out of the predicament Neo-liberalism and the free-market capitalism has caused in the first place is , well... wrong, for the lack of a better word. Their sole purpose is to "save" capitalism and consumption with no pain. From the Neo-liberal perspective then:
