Even the Pope is not optimistic, how can I not be a “doomer”?
Energy is life. All that has happened to you, all that you have, is due to you capturing, manipulating, and accumulating the energy that has been available to you since birth.
If you are a somewhat typical Medium reader, you have accumulated enough of that energy to have an electronic device, have access to electricity to make it work, and food in your stomach. You also have leisure, safety, and maybe you are also just burning some energy at the glowing tip of a cigarette, a joint, or incense right now, and enjoying some accumulated excess energy in the form of beer in a frosty mug.
All of that is energy captured and either used immediately to do work according to laws of thermodynamics, or stored. Your beer mug is an example of the former, while the battery in your laptop is an example of the latter.
Similarly, the money in your pocket or bank account is stored energy too, captured by the financial system versus a promise that you can convert that money back to energy whenever you want. That’s a lot of trust.
