The obvious problem is unlimited growth on a finite planet is not possible and energy use has a thermodynamic debt that we can no longer afford. The only thing that can “save” us is to ramp consumption down and reverse the population increase, hopefully through education and wide availability of contraception. In the meantime we need bridge energy sources that do not emit co2, ch4, or no2. Otherwise our footprint will be reset by nature.
