The question is do we gamble the survival of the human race on our collective (and quite possibly flawed) perception of human ingenuity? The same ingenuity that has been turbo-charged by a finite amount of fossil fuel energy? Energy that has lead to overshoot, that has led to the climate catastrophe?

The carrying capacity of the Earth is shrinking (relatively) because our demands on it is increasing. Thinking that technology can INCREASE that capacity seems erroneous (especially absent injection of even MORE energy), since technology is what has allowed us to overshoot that capacity on the first place. At best, what we can hope technology to do is aid in shrinking our demand and NOT expand global resource extraction (by better management??) of what obviously is a finite amount and not the other way around.

After 20 years in finance I realized it was all a lie. Now I'm trying to figure out what 'it' is. Human being tired of being lied to.
